TEXARKANA, Texas -- Bail is set at $500,000 for an 87-year-old pastor charged with sexual assault of a child.
Louie Ben George II, of Wake Village, Texas, was arrested Wednesday by Texarkana Texas Police Department. He remained in the Bi-State jail Friday.
George is a pastor at Oak Street Baptist Church on Waterall Street, according to social media. He was the pastor there in the 1990s, when the alleged victim was a child attending the church, according to police.
George was also a principal at a Texarkana Texas Independent School District elementary school for 23 years, according to a previous Gazette article. In 2019, George was honored with a lifetime achievement award from the NAACP.
Since the investigation began, police have identified two more alleged victims.
"Because George has been a pastor at this church for so many years, we're concerned there could be other victims out there who haven't come forward yet. We want to hear from you if you have information that could be relevant to this investigation," a news release states.

Sexual assault of a child is a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison.
